Most
data in the schema resulting from the automated update process in EASE are
derived by first converting the gene identifier into a LocusLink number and
then extracting information about that Locus from the LL_tmpl flatfile from the
Locuslink FTP directory.
Where a
conversion to LocusLink number cannot be made, no information is given by EASE.
The
following fields are found in the \Data\ directory:
ALIAS
SYMBOLS: Other symbols that have been used in the literature for this gene.
CHROMOSOME:
The chromosome containing this gene.
CHROMOSOMAL
LOCATION: The map location of the gene.
It can be either genetic or cytogenetic.
CURRENT
LOCUSLINK: The current LocusLink number for retired LocusLinks
DISTANCE
FROM CENTROMERE: A distance parsed from the map location above. This can be used to graph the location of
the genes.
GENE
NAME: The official or preferred name of the gene.
GENE
SYMBOL: The official or preferred symbol of the gene.
GENERIF:
PubMed identifiers of references with functional annotation of the gene, along
with a concise summary of the article
GOID:
Terminal node Gene ontology identifiers
KNOWN
PMIDS: PubMed identifiers for the PubMed articles specified in the LocusLink
flatfile.
LINK TO
LOCUSLINK: A URL to the LocusLink webpage for the gene.
LINK TO
OMIM: A URL to the OMIM webpage for the gene.
LINK TO
PUBMED: A URL to a webpage displaying all of the abstracts for the PubMed
articles specified in the LocusLink flatfile.
OFFICIAL
GENE SYMBOL: The official symbol of the gene.
OMIM:
The accession number for the description of this gene in the Online Mendelian
Inheritance in Man database.
SPECIES:
The organism that has this gene.
SUMMARY:
Short paragraphs about the gene from RefSeq, Proteome, and other sources.
In
addition, all categorical information in the \Data\Class\ directory can be used
as fields for annotation, as well as all implied categorical information in the
\Data\Class\Implies\ directory.
All
identifiers for a given gene can also be listed in a field by selecting the
appropriate file from the \Data\Convert\ directory.
