In
addition to pasting gene identifiers into EASE, you can load a list of
identifiers from any ASCII text file, but not directly from a word processor or
spreadsheet file. To use identifiers
from a word processor or spreadsheet file, either cut-and-paste them into EASE
or save the file in text format first.
For example, to save a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet as text, open the
spreadsheet file with Excel, choose "Save As..." from the
"File" menu
then
choose "Text(tab-delimited)(*.txt)" from the "Save as type:"
drop-down box.
EASE
can automatically extract all identifiers from a text file that are delimited
by any combination of tabs, commas, spaces, semicolons or newlines.
Note
that identifiers from multiple files are be sequentially appended to the list
to be analyzed. The same is true for
identifiers pasted from the clipboard.
If there are identifiers that you want removed before analysis, they can
be manually removed from the paste box, or removed using the "Refine"
function of EASE.
